5 Ways to Make Money Online at Home
Thanks to technology, we can now make money online at home. If you’re looking to supplement your income or transition to a full-time online career, here are five ways to earn income at the end of each month. You want to create an infrastructure that allows you to monetize your skills or your products online. They all require different amounts of time to set them up. And it all depends on your skills. However, once you get them set up and rolling, you can make money online at home from your sofa. Let’s see how!
1. Creating and Selling Notion Templates
One innovative and profitable way to make money online is by creating and selling Notion templates. Notion [affiliate link] is an all-in-one productivity tool that allows users to organize their tasks, projects, and data in customizable ways. Many people are willing to pay for well-designed templates that save them time and effort. Beyond that, you can also create home pages with it! So, if you’re searching for an economical way to get your homepage out and sell Notion templates, this is it!
Why Notion Templates?
- High demand: Notion’s growing user base constantly seeks new and efficient ways to use the tool. It’s also very versatile, and you can create amazing things with it!
- Creativity: Designing templates allows you to be creative and cater to various niches, from personal productivity and homepage creation to business management. While Notion does have its limitations, you can stretch them through creativity and find solutions you can sell to others.
- Passive income: Once created, templates can be sold multiple times with minimal ongoing effort.
Getting Started with Notion Templates
- Learn Notion: Familiarize yourself with Notion’s features and capabilities. dePepi doesn’t teach you how to use Notion [affiliate link]; instead, I offer you courses on monetizing your hobbies (made on Notion), and more. To learn Notion, you can check Thomas Frank’s Youtube channel.
- Identify a niche: Focus on a specific area where you can add value. For example, I have courses on entrepreneurship, marketing (soon!), and even how to monetize free digital magazines!
- Design your template: Create templates that are user-friendly and visually appealing. Test them thoroughly before releasing and make sure you like their design.
- Market your templates: Sell your templates on platforms like Gumroad, Etsy, or your own website. I personally use Gumroad for that. It’s simple, colorful, and eye-catching. I can easily have products in it and on this platform. While Etsy allows you to sell digital goods, Gumroad is more known for that.
2. Online Courses and Coaching
Another excellent way to make money online is by creating and selling online courses or coaching services. If you have expertise in a particular field, sharing your knowledge can be both fulfilling and profitable. And if you connect this to the above, you can easily see that you don’t exactly need to create a platform on WordPress like me. While there are many perks to doing that, if you want to be faster and create something elegant or cute, think about doing it on Notion & Gumroad. (You can then create a platform on WordPress if you like).
Steps to Create and Sell Online Courses
- Choose your topic: Identify a subject you are knowledgeable about and passionate about teaching. Choose something you love and already know deeply because this will take time. If you already know a lot about the subject, you’ll go faster in creating all the online materials.
- Create a curriculum: Outline the course content, breaking it down into manageable modules and lessons. If you struggle with this, you can always brainstorm ideas with ChatGPT.
- Produce quality content: You can record video lessons, create slide presentations, and develop supporting materials like worksheets and quizzes. Now, this will depend highly on your comfort zone. If it’s easier for you to create videos, go for it! If it’s easier for you to write materials, then write materials. To go faster, choose the medium that’s familiar to you initially. You can expand everything later.
- Select a platform: If you don’t want to invest an arm and a leg hosting the materials, choose Notion [affiliate link]. You can host your videos for free on YouTube, ensuring they are unsearchable, and then create your course on Notion. You can get ideas from my courses here.
- Promote your course: Use social media, newsletters, and content marketing to attract students. Use Substack to reach more people and send newsletters. You can also create a free blog on Medium that will allow you to promote your courses while maybe also monetizing the blog posts.
3. Freelancing
Freelancing offers flexibility and the potential for high earnings in various fields, including writing, graphic design, web development, and digital marketing. Platforms like Upwork connect freelancers with clients seeking specific services. However, I like to target local platforms like Nextdoor to make myself known. I also love LinkedIn since it allows me to pitch to higher venues! Also, don’t underestimate the power of the old-fashioned word. People talk; if you do something great, they’ll recommend you! Are you great at something you’ve helped your friends with? Talk to them and tell them you’re open for business!
Tips for Successful Freelancing
- Build a strong profile: Highlight your skills, experience, and portfolio on freelancing platforms and LinkedIn. You’ll need to think carefully about your personal brand. Don’t hesitate to invest in yourself and learn about marketing (my course is coming soon, by the way). You can have a great product or offer a fantastic service, but without proper marketing and branding, it might get lost in the sea of the internet!
- Set competitive rates: Research industry rates and set your prices competitively but without breaking the market, adjusting as you gain more experience and positive reviews. By “breaking the market,” I mean setting up such low prices that, overall, everyone would need to go cheap. Plus, in the end, you’ll regret it. It’s a highway to overwork and despair.
- Market yourself: Use social media and professional networks to showcase your work and attract clients. (Again, marketing will help here).
- Deliver quality work: To build a strong reputation, ensure you meet deadlines and exceed client expectations. Nothing speaks louder than great work. Always try to deliver your best so you can ensure that the “power of the word” works for you.
