This initiative, known as the AI-Enabled Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Workforce Consortium, marks a pivotal moment in addressing the future of work amidst AI’s ascendance.

AI and Jobs: Revolution and Impact on the Workforce

The World Economic Forum (WEF) projects that nearly a quarter of global jobs will undergo changes in the next five years due to AI. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) paints an even broader picture, estimating that 60% of jobs in advanced economies could be influenced by AI technologies. While these figures might seem abstract, they translate into real-world shifts affecting billions of individuals globally. This has propelled nine of the world’s largest tech companies to form a consortium aimed at preemptively addressing these challenges through skilling and upskilling initiatives.
