The real “time is money” meaning is connected to the reality that time is the most valuable commodity existing on Earth. Our time is, indeed, priceless and limited. That’s why we should honor it dearly. Yet, we prioritize other people’s time and neglecting ours. In doing so, we feel moody, dragged and tired because we can’t have the life we want.

And yet…

  • We yes to things we don’t like to do
  • We spend time with people that drain us
  • We follow trends out of FOMO

When we understand the real “time is money” meaning we understand that in “wasting our time” we’re “wasting ourselves”. Money is energy, and as such, it flows. We exchange our time for a salary. Yet, we never think about the cost of “wasting our time” when given away to people who don’t appreciate it.

We procrastinate and leave our own stuff for another day because we give priority to others because they’re family or friends or people with opinions. We even don’t give ourselves half an hour a day because we feel guilty of doing so! But that ends up putting us down reinforcing the idea that we have no time for anything else. That’s a way of procrastinating and undervaluing ourselves while setting an example for our own family.
You need to value yourself first.

We end up feeling down and we don’t do something because we don’t feel like it… every day of the week. Failing is just a way of learning. Being scared of failure just takes all the fun from the game. Plus, we live in a society that shies away from failure. Yet it is paramount for success. Test! Go out of your comfort zone and allow yourself to fail so that you can succeed.

So, how can we tune with the real “time is money” meaning? By starting to value our time (and hence, ourselves). And it starts by saying no!

Make a list with your priorities and say no to those things that don’t fit in it. For example,

  • start saying no to activities or people who drain you.
  • start saying no to being there all the time for your family. If you need 30 minutes every 2 days for me time, take it and teach your loves ones to value you more.
  • start saying no to negativity and cancel social media if necessary and the news to protect your peace of mind.

This means that you’ll start saying YES to the things that you really value. The more time you focus on that what truly matters to you, the better you’ll feel and the more abundant your life will be.
